The story of chocolate

The use of Cocoa, the key ingredient in all quality chocolate, can be traced back as far as 2600 years. Today, chocolate is primarily enjoyed as an edible product of cocoa and sugar, but it wasn’t always this way. Originally, chocolate was used in drinks or porridge-like dishes.

 

The history of chocolate can be divided into three main periods:

 

  • The Mesoamerican period
  • From America to Europe
  • From drinking to eating chocolate
